Several high-profile friends of Gregg Allman will come together in New York City in January to pay tribute to the life and music of the legendary musician and songwriter, who died in May at age 69.

The concert, titled “Southern Blood: Celebrating Gregg Allman,” will take place at City Winery on Jan. 24, with a 6 p.m. VIP dinner followed by the concert at 8 p.m. Despite ticket prices ranging from $175-250, the event sold-out almost immediately to the venue’s Vinofile members.

Scheduled to perform, as of now, are Gregg’s son Devon Allman, Luther and Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars, guitar whiz Tommy Emmanuel, ZZ Top legend Billy Gibbons, singer-songwriter Jackie Greene, Allman Brothers Band/Gov’t Mule mainstay Warren Haynes, bluegrass singer-musician Alison Krauss and Graham Nash.

The event is being produced in conjunction with Rounder Records, which released Gregg Allman’s final studio album, this year’s Southern Blood, and is an official Grammy Week event that will benefit the Grammy Museum. City Winery is located at 155 Varick Street in Manhattan.

A video for “Song for Adam,” from the new LP, was released on Dec. 8 on what would have been Allman’s 70th birthday.

Devon Allman and other friends and family of Gregg Allman have taken part in other remembrance concerts and events since the star’s passing this spring. One of the most widely reported took place at the Allman Brothers Band House and Museum, better known as The Big House, in Macon, Ga., following Allman’s funeral. See our report of that event here.

In addition to Devon, three more of Gregg’s offspring are musicians and performers who are keeping the Allman name alive. The best known among them is Elijah Blue Allman, whose other is Cher. The others are Michael Allman and Layla Brooklyn Allman. Delilah Allman is the only child of Gregg’s who has avoided the musical life.
