Def Leppard, REO, Tesla Team Up For Huge Summer/Fall Tour
by Best Classic Bands StaffAfter postponing a set of 13 U.S. shows they were scheduled to play from late January into February, Def Leppard have just announced a new 50-plus date North American tour that begins on May 1st at the Moonstone Festival in Orlando, FL and goes to October 10th. The metallic pop kings will top a three-act blockbuster bill that also includes REO Speedwagon and Tesla.
Forced to reschedule when singer Joe Elliott experienced vocal problems, Def Leppard had been slated to share the bill on the postponed dates with Styx, who will play three of the first tour dates rescheduled from the previous tour (with Tesla added to the bill). The REO joins ti caravan on May 10 Bossier City, LA.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back out there and playing some great music with some great people for some of the most appreciative audiences in the world,” says a now recovered Elliott. “It really is always a pleasure.” He came down with laryngitis on the band’s Hysteria on the High Seas concert cruise in late January. The band performed for their loyal fans aboard the ship without Elliott for the first time in their history.
REO’s Kevin Cronin is also looking forward to the tour. “We played some shows with Def Leppard in 2008 and it was an amazing musical marriage, a melodic rock extravaganza. We are ready to restart that fire in 2016.”
Tickets can be purchased here. Styx has tour dates scheduled from March 17th to September 16th.
