The Steve Miller Band have postponed the June dates of their 2020 North American summer tour with Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives. The 40-city “Americana Tour” was to begin June 13, immediately after Miller was to be inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in New York.

The March 31 announcement noted, “There is nothing more important to us than your good health and welfare.”

The two bands toured together in 2019. This run includes two special festival dates featuring Brian Wilson and Taj Mahal. The tour also includes Gary Mule Deer as the opening act.

On the same day as the postponement, Miller went into his vault and released a video of the band’s 1973 performance of “Fly Like an Eagle” on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert, three years before the single was recorded.

“Touring with Marty and the Superlatives is inspirational,” said Miller in the original Feb. 13 announcement. “This is undoubtedly one of the most talented touring combinations I’ve ever been involved in. We look forward to continuing working together to explore the roots of American Music. Adding the musical comedy of Gary Mule Deer to the show will be an unexpected treat for our fans.”

Over the past year, Miller released his second box set of collected vinyl, as well as the acclaimed Welcome to the Vault box set. He performed live in over 50 cities and had seven instruments on display at the record breaking Play It Loud exhibit at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Stuart was a major contributor to Ken Burns’ latest PBS series, Ken Burns: Country Music, and continued his work with Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music in Philadelphia, Mississippi which celebrates the rich cultural heritage of country music through live musical performance and educational programming.
