Rory Gallagher ‘Best of’ Collection Includes Unreleased Stones Cover
by Best Classic Bands StaffA new Rory Gallagher collection entitled The Best of Rory Gallagher is being released on Oct. 9. The compilation, via UMe, includes the musician’s previously unreleased collaboration with Jerry Lee Lewis on their cover of the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” Listen to it below.
The album follows the release of the recent Blues (2019) and Check Shirt Wizard – Live in ’77 (also in 2020).
The collection includes Gallagher‘s most iconic songs compiled from across his recording career, including tracks from his first band Taste through to his final studio album in 1990.
The Best of Rory Gallagher will be released as a 2-CD set featuring 30 tracks, including a previously unreleased collaboration with Jerry Lee Lewis. The album will also be released on 2-LP black vinyl and as a 15-track single CD.
Unearthed from the Rory Gallagher Archives is a special bonus track “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction [Alternate Version]” by Jerry Lee Lewis featuring Rory Gallagher – a rare outtake taken from the Killer’s famous 1973 London Sessions featuring Rory singing and playing the Rolling Stones’ classic alongside the legendary Lewis. The previously unreleased rarity is featured on the 2-CD version and digital versions of the album.

Renowned for his blistering live performances and highly respected for his dedication to his craft, he died in 1995, at just 47. His reputation has continued to flourish in the years since. Some of classic rock’s most seminal figures, from Jimi Hendrix to Eric Clapton, Brian May to the Edge, have cited him as an influence.
