The folk-rock trio The Roches (sisters Maggie, Terre and Suzzy), long associated with the Greenwich Village music scene in the ’70s and well into the next decade, will be the subject of their first boxed set. The Roches: Runs in the Family – The Warner Bros/Rykodisc Albums on 3-CDs arrives September 18, 2026, via the Lemon imprint of Cherry Red Records. It’s available to pre-order in the U.S. here and in the U.K. here (where it arrives on Sept. 11).

From the label’s announcement: The world first heard the voices of Maggie and Terre Roche on Paul Simon’s 1973 album, There Goes Rhymin’ Simon. With youngest sister Suzzy, The Roches soon carved out a remarkable career of their own. Between 1979 and 2007, Maggie, Terre, and Suzzy pushed the boundaries of so-called “folk music.” Their songs were personal, funny, heartbreaking, vulnerable, witty, sad, joyful, and utterly original as the sisters bared their hearts and souls in striking harmony.

This 3-CD collection brings together their self-titled debut The Roches (1979) produced by Robert Fripp; Nurds (1980) produced by Roy Halee; Keep on Doing, also with Fripp (1982); Another World (1985) with productions by Richard Gottehrer, Ed Kalehoff, and others; and Can We Go Home Now (1995), helmed by the group and Stewart Lerman.

Key tracks include the autobiographical “We,” “Hammond Song,” “Mr. Sellack,” “The Married Men,” their stunning arrangement of “The Hallelujah Chorus,” “Love Radiates Around,” and their delightful cover of The Fleetwoods’ “Come Softly to Me” as heard in the film Crossing Delancey.

The set also includes two rare bonus tracks; the never-before-on-CD Robert Fripp-produced “Second Family” and a radio performance of “My Winter Coat.”

Nick Robbins has remastered the audio. The deluxe booklet contains rare and previously unpublished photos plus unique, community-based track-by-track sleeve notes contributed by The Roches’ fans and friends (including Linda Ronstadt, Christopher Guest, Robert Fripp, and Linda Thompson) as well as Terre Roche herself.

And as sister Terre herself wrote on her Facebook page on July 15, “We’ve collected comments for each of the 52 songs, unearthed photos and listened to this treasure trove of songs my sisters Maggie [who died in 2017], Suzzy and I made over many years. In a tough business we were outsiders, never having a commercial hit song or a nomination for an award. Yet there we were, plumbing the depths of outsiderhood with piercing accuracy and leaving an astonishing display of ear candy in our wake. No false modesty here. These songs are as relevant today as they ever were. In many ways they come into their own now.”
