Ringo Starr, Beach Boys Sing a Beatles Favorite in 2019
by Best Classic Bands StaffAugust 2019 marked the 30th anniversary of Ringo and His All Starr Band as they hit the road for a celebratory tour which concluded September 1 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, nearly 30 years to the day when the inaugural All Starrs completed their first tour on September 3, 1989.
For the tour’s second and third nights, on August 3 and 4 in Highland Park, Ill., the Beach Boys were the opening act. And on the first of those two shows, Ringo welcomed Mike Love and Bruce Johnston to the stage. The pair joined Ringo and the band (and the audience) for the evening’s final number, “With a Little Help From My Friends.” Watch it below.
The 2019 edition of the All Starr Band featured Toto’s Steve Lukather, Men at Work’s Colin Hay, Santana and Journey’s Gregg Rolie, Warren Ham, Gregg Bissonette and the return of All Starr alumnus Hamish Stuart.
“Is anybody coming out,” asked Ringo, as they were about to conclude the hit-packed, 20-song, August 3 concert. “We nearly added two guests, but they’ve gone back to bed.” Love and Johnston arrived, bowing to Sir Ringo.

Jump into a conversationWhy in the world don’t Ringo and Paul McCartney do a tour together? I know they’ve done a couple of one-offs over the years, but a real tour would be amazing. Is it ego, or are there other issues that keep them from doing shows as a unit? The world would LOVE to see a Paul/Ringo tour. The audiences would be throwing babies in the air. How about it, guys?
how about Dhani Harrison and Sean and Julian Lennon along with Paul
Mike Loves whiny voice isn’t the beach boys .He just tries to cash in on Brian’s genius. He was just along for the ride and any singer could have took his place.
