A new feature-length documentary, simply titled Frampton, is set to make its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on June 4, 2026. Chronicling the life story of the British singer-songwriter and guitarist Peter Frampton, the film commemorates the 50th anniversary of the release of the musician’s best-selling album Frampton Comes Alive. Watch the official trailer below.

The film is directed by Rob Arthur, who has been Frampton’s band leader, keyboardist and a vocalist for the past 20 years. A description from 10 Lives Studios: From the explosive heights of Frampton Comes Alive! to the quiet introspection of his final tour, Frampton is an intimate portrait of a rock icon who soared, stumbled, and rose again. This feature documentary traces Peter Frampton’s extraordinary life and career — from his meteoric rise in the 1970s that made him a global sensation, through the turbulent years that tested his artistry, identity, and resilience.

As the roar of stadium crowds faded, Frampton faced the daunting task of rebuilding — reinventing his sound and rediscovering his purpose across solo projects, collaborations, and relentless touring. Behind the stage lights, personal sacrifices and fractured family ties reveal the cost of fame that few ever see.

Now, diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis, a degenerative muscle condition threatening his ability to play guitar, Frampton stands at a profound crossroads. Frampton captures the soulful poignancy of an artist confronting both the passage of time and his own physical limits, determined to make every performance count.

Through rare archival footage, candid interviews, and electrifying concert moments, this documentary explores the spirit of a musician who defined an era, lost everything, and fought his way back — only to discover that his greatest encore might not be on stage, but in the time he’s reclaiming with the people he loves most. Frampton is a stirring celebration of artistry, endurance, and the enduring power of music to outlast even the hands that play it.

Frampton himself is expected to make an appearance at the premiere following the Tribeca screening. The film will also screen at Manhattan’s Village East by Angelika on June 5 and 6 as part of the festival.

Among those who appear in the film are Ringo Starr, Bill Wyman, Tom Morello, Sheryl Crow, Alice Cooper, Herb Alpert, Nancy Wilson, Cameron Crowe and Roger Daltrey.

The album, released on May 15, 2026, was co-written and produced with his son Julian Frampton, and features guest appearances from Sheryl Crow, Bill Evans, Tom Morello, Graham Nash and others. It’s available to order in the U.S. here, in Canada here and in the U.K. here.

I’m looking forward to seeing it. He’s a terrific artist and charming guy. There’s more to his story than just one live album from 50 years ago, which obviously had an enormous impact, and is still heard all over the country every day.

I am curious: is your handle “NYROCKS a tribute to New York, or my favorite artist, Laura Nyro?

Miami Baseball Stadium – Sept of 76, 16 yo, just got my DL, I had been to a few small live acts – Line Up was Mothers Finest, and Gary Wright. It was mushroom season, I arrived alone (but w my little friends). They were In a plastic bag, but during the opening acts the heat and spilt beer made “The Juice” – I poured it into my beer – pretty good too! Once Frampton started playing, I made my way towards the front center and was comfortable about 10 people back from the stage.

As Pete was leaving before the encore he threw a tambourine right towards me – I caught it! But some idiot next to me wrestled me for it – I told him that I would break it in half to share, or I would break it over his head, There was a back stage pass attached to it – I tore that in half too.

I almost got let in back stage with the torn pass and my story, but it was a mad house and I was feeling a bit drained if you know what I mean. So I head back to my car with my 1/2 tambourine, and a guy and his date was looking for a ride back to Broward, so we got in my 66 Mustang – and I let them out near a RV campground. Wouldn’t you know the guy took my tambourine!

All True – Somewhere I still have half of a backstage pass…. and the memories… Summer of ’69 has nothin on the Spirit of 76 !
