Update (August 11): The inaugural Metallica show at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis that we told you about last March, is long sold-out. However, if you weren’t lucky enough to snag a ticket, all hope is not lost. Pandora and the metal legends have teamed up to bring the music to you. On Saturday, August 21, Pandora will live stream the entire concert starting at approximately 9:00 p. Central Time.
Log into your Pandora account or create a new one for free if you live in the U.S., Australia or New Zealand. For fans outside of those countries, you can visit LiveMetallica.com to catch the live stream. Until then, Pandora users can check out Pandora.com/MetallicaLive to listen to a handpicked mix of the group’s favorite songs.
Original story: Their sound may be not mass appeal enough to entertain halftime audiences. But it looks like Metallica and the NFL are new BFFs anyway.
Saying they “had such an amazing time playing in our hometown stadium the night before the Super Bowl” for their only performance so far this year, Metallica will be inaugurating the new U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on August 20 as the venue’s first ever rock show. They’ll be joined by their friends Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat for “a proper kick-off” to the 2016 NFL season in the new home of the league’s Minnesota Vikings.
Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster Friday, March 25 at 10 am local time but Fifth Members have access to a special presale starting Tuesday, March 22.
Metallica is also sharing music from a concert they performed at the Kabuki Theater in San Francisco in 1985. A recording of that gig will be included in the Deluxe Edition of Ride the Lightning, which is being released on Record Store Day, this April 16th. Here’s a little taste…
