Time to stop what you’re doing right now – yes, that means reading this story – to check to make sure your passport is up-to-date. We’ll wait… OK, all set? Great, because you’ll need it this fall to fly to London, England because you’ll want to attend BluesFest 2016. Check out this stellar classic rock lineup…
On Friday, October 28, it’s Bill Wyman‘s 80th Birthday Gala featuring performances by Bill Wyman & the Rhythm Kings plus their special guests Bob Geldof, Mark Knopfler, Mick Hucknall “and many more who are yet to be announced.”
On Saturday, October 29, how about Bad Company and Richie Sambora?
And closing the fest on Sunday, October 30: the great pairing of Van Morrison and Jeff Beck.
Tickets are available here.
BluesFest has been assembling strong lineups for years. In 2015, artists included the Dave Matthews Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and a double bill of Tom Jones and Van Morrison, among others. 2014 had Elvis Costello and Sheryl Crow. 2013’s event featured Robert Plant, Ronnie Wood, Mavis Staples… you get the picture.
Here’s a clip of Tedeschi Trucks Band (and friends) performing a tribute to Joe Cocker at the 2015 event…

Best Classic Bands reported in March that Wyman – who officially turns 80 on October 24 – had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, noting the former Rolling Stones bassist “is undergoing treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.” He attended the opening of the Stones’ Exhibitionism in London in April and it’s extremely encouraging that he’s committed to performing at BluesFest in late October.
