During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday night (December 18th), Bruce Springsteen acknowledged that he wrote “Hungry Heart” for The Ramones.
The Boss was appearing to plug both his new The Ties That Bind: The River Collection box set and his December 19th appearance on Saturday Night Live.
The Ramones connection has been revealed before; this time Springsteen acknowledges that his manager Jon Landau said “You better keep that one.” Released as a single off The River in 1980, “Hungry Heart” went on to become his first Top 5 pop hit. “It did pretty well…” he admits.
