It was all smiles for Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood this week. The classic rocker – who turned 69 on June 1, 2016 – became a dad again! Wood’s wife Sally Humphreys, 38, was rushed to a hospital in London where she gave birth to the twin girls two days earlier, on May 30.

The couple said in a joint statement: “Ronnie & Sally Wood are delighted to announce the birth of their twins Gracie Jane (6lb) & Alice Rose (5.7lb). The girls arrived on 30th May at 10.30pm and all are doing brilliantly. The babies are perfect.”

Wood was very excited to be a father again. The legendary musician tweeted in the middle of May: “I’m getting excited about the arrival of my twin girls sometime in the next few weeks.”

Wood promised that he’ll be a hands-on father. “I’m going to be changing the nappies and all that goes with it. I’m very good at it and looking forward to all that,” he said. “I love being a dad and to have this happening is just wonderful, I’m a lucky guy.”

New mom Sally had previously said their daughters inherited Wood’s passion for music while in the womb. “They wake up in the evenings and love music. They were kicking away at a Stones show in Cuba.”

The babies are his fifth and sixth children, and Sally’s first. His other children are Jesse Wood, with his first wife, former model Krissy Wood; daughter Leah and son Tyrone from his second marriage to Jo; and Jamie, Jo’s son from a previous marriage, who Wood adopted.

Wood posted a “Happy Birthday” tweet to the girls in 2022.

The couple met while Humphreys was working at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, where Wood was displaying some of his artwork. They wed in 2012, after dating for six months, at a low-key ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Rod Stewart was Wood’s best man and Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell were among the 50 guests.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, Humphreys said they did not notice the more than 30-year age gap, but Wood did say his wife is sometimes mistaken for his daughter. She said: “Maybe it’s the old-souls-young-soul thing, but we don’t notice it.”
