Update (2/1): Mumford & Sons have added several dates to their 2016 tour. Tickets for their NYC date go on sale this Thursday, February 4th. See below.
Despite months of nonstop touring, Mumford & Sons have already announced plans for a major North American tour in 2016, kicking off in Houston, TX, on April 3rd (see below).
The band’s latest album, Wilder Mind, released last May on Glassnote, marks a departure from the group’s traditional folk rock sound – abandoning acoustic instruments for electric ones and filling out the rhythm section with a session drummer – and word on the street is, even Alice Cooper is impressed. “You hear the new album? It rocks!” Cooper told NME a few months back, changing his original tune regarding the British band. “Absolutely electric rock’n’roll.”
The last time they visited the States, Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, Mark Hoppus from Blink 182, and T Bone Burnett were surprise guests. No word yet on who’ll be making special appearances onstage this time around, but songwriter and guitarist Blake Mills is set to open all shows except for the one in Saratoga.
Mumford & Sons are currently busy touring Australia. Here’s the video for their single, “Ditmas,” the third from this year’s certified gold record.
