It’s a busy time for legendary metal pioneers, Megadeth. The band premiered their video for the new single “Post American World” today (July 18) and announced new U.S. fall tour dates for their Dystopia World Tour.
The North American leg of the tour will kick off in Casper, WY on September 20 and take them across the U.S., visiting 16 states and including special guests such as Amon Amarth, Suicidal Tendencies, Metal Church and Havok along the way. The band is just wrapping up tour dates in Europe now and will kick off a selection of August dates in South America, starting with a performance in Santiago, Chile.
Tickets for the U.S. dates will go on sale this Friday (July 22); however Megadeth fan club members will be able to access an exclusive pre-sale for tickets beginning Tuesday, July 19 at 10 am. You can become a member here.
Meanwhile, the current single “Post American World” takes an unflinching and timely look at the state of the modern world, and the dark vision of the Jake Macpherson-directed video takes the subject matter in still more menacing directions. Most other artists are unwilling to tread in this territory, preferring veiled metaphors, or more often, completely ignoring the most important topics of our day. But with their current album Dystopia, Megadeth refuses to compromise their craft and identity, and as such have once again set the pace for modern metal.
“The filming of Post American World was an eerie video shoot right from the beginning. Shot in just one day with only our guitars and drums, I knew that this was going to be amazing,” says frontman Dave Mustaine. “There is something to be said about the simplicity of an artist and only his guitar or drums. This is clearly a ‘less is more’ concept and director Jake Macpherson nailed it!”

Dystopia was released on January 22, 2016 and has been heralded as one of the top metal albums of the year. The album’s sales impact has been the strongest since their 1992 release Countdown To Extinction, debuting earlier this year at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
