Two of the great living guitar talents – Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy – will share a bill this summer and, one would expect, play together at some point in the double bill each evening. “Sharing the stage and this moment with Buddy is a dream for me,” Beck said in a press release announcing the tour. “His concerts are legendary, and the music world would be a very boring place without his influence.” The impact of Guy’s blues guitar brilliance on Beck and his six-string peers as well as generations to follow is considerable. The co-headlining tour – Guy plays all but two dates (see below) – will be capped by a special celebration at The Hollywood Bowl of Beck’s 50 years of making music on August 10, with further details to follow.
Beck will release a new studio album, Loud Hailer, on July 15, 2016, his first since 2010’s Emotion & Commotion.
This fall sees the publication of BECK 01, a limited-edition signed book that tells his life’s journey in words, over 400 rare photographic images, set lists, posters, album graphics and other special items from his archives via Beck’s two biggest passions: guitars and cars. “Musicians are like mathematicians,” he explains. “Every part has to be right for it to work, and it’s the same with building a car. There’s an affinity.” Only 1,500 numbered copies of the handcrafted book will be sold. It comes in a hardbound leather cover inside a pressed aluminum cover.
