Eurythmics’ Lennox, Stewart Reunited For 2022 Rock Hall Induction
by Best Classic Bands StaffOn Saturday night, November 5, 2022, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart shared the stage for the second time that year. The rare occurrence was becoming a habit after decades apart. The occasion this time was Eurythmics’ induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022, held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
The 80’s U.K. pop duo achieved global success with their album Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) for which the title track became a 1983 worldwide hit topping the charts in numerous countries including the U.S. The pair went on to release a string of hit singles and albums before they went their own ways in 1990 to focus on their solo careers. Eurythmics reunited in 1999 to record their ninth album and once again in 2005 to release a single for a compilation album, Ultimate Collection. In between, the duo won an MTV Music Video Award for Best New Artist in 1984, a GRAMMY Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1987, a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1999, and were inducted into the U.K. Music Hall of Fame in 2005. (They were also nominated for induction into the Rock Hall 2017.)
In June, Lennox and Stewart were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. At their big night at the 2022 Rock Hall induction ceremony on Nov. 5, the pair performed three favorites, sounding like they did decades earlier.
