Artists traditionally perform acoustically at the Bridge School shows, so many fans are wondering what exactly Metallica, especially, will do. Waters and My Morning Jacket collaborated at the Newport Folk Festival in 2015.

According to its website, the Bridge School, located in Hillsborough, California, “is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative and alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications and through the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative life-long educational strategies. The Bridge School is an internationally recognized leader in the education of children who use augmentative and alternative communication and has developed unique programs and trained highly skilled professionals in the use of state of the art assistive technology.”

The first Bridge School benefit concert was held in October 1986, and featured Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Nils Lofgren, Don Henley, Tom Petty, Robin Williams, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. Warren Zevon, Pearl Jam, Lou Reed, Elton John and Brian Wilson are among the many classic rock artists who have performed at the benefits.

Tickets for this year’s benefit go on sale Monday, August 29 here.
