Once upon a time, a British couple saw their Las Vegas wedding plans dashed when their travel operator suddenly folded. They would have to switch to Plan B for their dream nuptials. But thanks to some quick thinking by the hotel they thought they had booked, the fairytale wedding took place after all, with even more memories than they could have wished for, including a surprise appearance by Rod Stewart.
When Andrew Aitchison and Sharon Cook of Liverpool found out that the long-established, Manchester, UK.-based Thomas Cook Group announced, on Sept. 23, that it was being liquidated, the couple were informed that “your payments have been lost” for their booking for their planned wedding in Las Vegas.
However, their destination hotel – Caesars Palace – stepped in like a fairy Godmother and arranged for the wedding to be held. The bride- and groom-to-be were flown by Delta Airlines and after a few scheduled transfers, checked into the hotel on Sept. 29.
Aitchison shared a personal note they received upon arrival…
We arrive at hotel greeted by Caesar himself, Cleopatra, the incredible @CaesarsPalace team and President Gary Selesner along with Cameras and a crowd thinking we are celebrities!! A warm and thoughtful note from the President himself, it is already an extraordinary experience! pic.twitter.com/hNyH8Qunj1

Oct. 2 was their wedding day. Caesars Palace informed the couple that there might be some surprises in store.
As Aitchison tweeted two days later: “That awkward moment when you’ve been married for 20 seconds and Sir Rod serenades your wife and then you have an epic fail of a hand hold attempt.”

Jump into a conversationHow cool was that. A feel good story that the world could use a hell of a lot more of.
Way to step up Caesar’s, and Rod. You made their special day, one worth remembering.
