Les Brers 2016 June

Band of Brothers

The new group comprised of Allman Brothers Band members and friends, Les Brers, is hitting the road with a just announced string of concerts.

The tour will kick off at the Gregg Allman-curated Peach Festival on August 11 in Scranton, PA with performances into mid-September and more dates in the works. So far, they have performed a handful of dates this year, including a few benefit shows in their adopted hometown of Macon, GA and at the Wanee Festival.

Les Brers – it’s name a nod to the ABB instrumental jam “Les Brers in A-Minor” from the 1972 Eat A Peach album – features a pedigreed list of musicians within the group. Founding Allman Brothers Band drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe, longtime members Oteil Burbridge on bass and percussionist Marc Quinoes and former ABB guitarist Jack Pearson are all involved in the project. Also along for the ride is keyboardist Bruce Katz, with singer Lamar Williams Jr. (son of the former ABB bassist) and guitarist Pat Bergeson rounding out the lineup.

“Nobody is playing music like this, like the Allman Brothers, and there’s still a lot of fans out there, so that’s what we’re doing with Les Brers,” said Trucks in an April interview with Billboard. “We’re taking this stuff and getting loose with it and improvising and really having a good time. And I think once the word gets around there’s still a lot of people out there that want to hear this kind of music and whether there is or not, we’re having a ball playing it, so if we can draw a big crowd that’s great, but if we don’t we’re still gonna play it.”

The “band of brothers” will perform an eclectic selection of music familiar to fans of the Allman Brothers Band. ABB’s jam band style along with fantastic songwriting made them one of America’s most beloved band in music history. No doubt that classic hits such as “Ramblin’ Man” and “Stormy Monday” can be expected to be heard along with new material from the new collaboration of Les Brers.
