The promoters of Mountain Jam, the annual music festival held in Hunter Mountain, N.Y., have already announced their headliners for 2017. Two Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and The Steve Miller Band, will top the bill at the three-day event, which will take place June 16-18. The third headliner has yet to be announced.
Petty and Miller will be joined on the Mountain Jam stage by Peter Frampton, Gary Clark Jr., Michael Franti & Spearhead, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, the Strumbellas, Shovels & Rope, the Revivalists, the Infamous Stringdusters, White Denim, Elephant Revival, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and River Whyless. According to the festival’s website , the full lineup is typically announced in January.
Ticketing information has not yet been revealed but those potentially interested in attending can get a 24-hour discounted presale by subscribing to the festival’s newsletter. That must be done before midnight tonight (Nov. 14) in order to receive an email tomorrow, November 15, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern with details.

The first Mountain Jam took place in 2005 and featured only four bands: Gov’t Mule; Medeski, Martin & Wood; Robert Randolph & the Family Band; and Xavier Rudd. Since then it has expanded steadily to its present status, with more than 30 artists appearing on three different stages over the course of the weekend. Among the classic rock bands that have played over the years have been Phil Lesh and Friends, Steve Winwood, Allman Brothers Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Widespread Panic, Hot Tuna, Beck, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Dave Mason, Levon Helm and many others.
