Here’s a little extra excitement for Game Three of the World Series – the Piano Man himself will be leading the national anthem at Citi Field on Friday night, October 30th.
Billy Joel, who was raised on Long Island, goes way back with the Mets. This will be his third time singing the anthem at a World Series game by the team. Now, in honor of their first series in 15 years, the Mets are pulling out all the stops entertainment-wise. This season, they’ve used Joel’s “Piano Man” as a sing-along during the eighth inning break, and they’ve occasionally played “New York State of Mind” as the exit music after a win. Last week, Joel sang “Meet the Mets” and gave score updates from Game Four of the National League Championship Series during a concert at Madison Square Garden.
