The shows sold out immediately though re-sale tickets are available here.
In case you missed it, here was our report about Clapton’s new live album…
A live recording from a May 15, 2007 Eric Clapton concert in San Diego that features the late J.J. Cale – and other guests – is being released on September 30. The performance was from Clapton’s world tour. Cale – Clapton’s idol, who died in 2013 – appears on five of the tracks. Other guitar greats who join in are Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II and Robert Cray. Eric Clapton Live in San Diego with Special Guest JJ Cale is available on two CDs and as a 3-LP set on Reprise Records. Pre-order is available here.
Earlier this year, Clapton released a solo album, I Still Do. (Read Best Classic Bands‘ review here.)
Among the highlights are “Cocaine,” written by Cale and recorded by Clapton on his 1977 Slowhand album, as well as “Motherless Children,” from 1974’s 461 Ocean Boulevard and the Derek & the Dominos songs “Tell the Truth,” “Got to Get Better in a Little While” and “Layla.” Cray, the tour’s opening act, appears on “Crossroads.” (Full track listing is below.)
