One of rock’s longest-running soap operas has taken an unexpected upward turn on the happiness meter: Sharon Osbourne, the estranged wife of Ozzy Osbourne, has reported that the couple is getting back together.

Speaking to the British newspaper The Sun, Sharon said, “Ozzy has asked me to renew our wedding vows and I’d like to. I’m happy and to be honest that’s all I want for Christmas this year.”

Back in May, BCB reported that Ozzy and Sharon were calling it quits after more than 30 years of marriage. At the time it was reported that Ozzy had been caught cheating with celebrity hairstylist Michelle Pugh, leading to the dissolution.

Turns out they missed each other too much to be apart. Said Sharon in the U.K. paper’s report, “In my life I have been so blessed but when one side of your life is so brilliant other things can suffer. It is hard when you are both successful and both working away. It is easy to take each other for granted. We have been married for 35 years and been together 38 years. You have to have some ups and downs.” [The two actually met in 1970, and were married July 4, 1982, putting them together as husband and wife for 34 years.]

At the time they met, Ozzy’s band, Black Sabbath, was being managed by Sharon’s dad, music business entrepreneur Don Arden. She became Ozzy’s manager in 1979. Her success as his manager led her to start Sharon Osbourne Management and she would eventually oversee the careers of such acts as Lita Ford, Smashing Pumpkins and Motörhead.

The Osbournes reality TV series featured Ozzy, Sharon and two of their three children, Jack and Kelly, and premiered on MTV on March 5, 2002, and ran for four seasons.
