Lindsey Buckingham performed publicly for the first time since his open heart surgery earlier that year, when he played guitar at his daughter’s high school graduation on May 17, 2019.

Buckingham joined his daughter, LeeLee, and several of her fellow graduates on Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” a song written, ironically, by Stevie Nicks and recorded for the band’s 1975 self-titled album. Many reports have pointed the finger at Nicks for Buckingham’s 2018 ouster from the band.

Buckingham’s wife, Kristen, shared a clip of the performance on her Instagram account on May 18. That same day, she tweeted: “Last night was epic. First time I’ve seen Lindsey play in the last 4 mos, all the while Lee ending her high school career. AND she sings a little Landslide with her dad. I cried, I’ll admit it. Never know what’s ahead so enjoy the moment…”

On May 20, she tweeted a follow-up comment: “The love and support for Lindsey and our family from all of you means the world. Thank u! Please think good thoughts this week and send L the best healing vibes as we head east to meet with vocal specialist. We’re ready for whatever is next. Love conquers all.”

News that Buckingham has suffered vocal cord damage as a result of open heart surgery was revealed by Kristen Buckingham on the musician’s Facebook page on February 8.

Several hours after that news broke, Fleetwood Mac acknowledged it in a brief statement. “We are saddened by this news. Our thoughts and love go out to Lindsey and his entire family. We are hopeful for his speedy recovery.”

It appears LeeLee is bound for the University of Southern California. She is seen wearing a USC t-shirt in another of her mother’s Instagram posts.

Beautiful! So glad Lindsey and family are moving on after what Fleetwood Mac did to him.
