Greg Dulli of alt-rock band the Afghan Whigs will be embarking on a spring solo tour on February 6th of next year, starting in Galway, Ireland and wrapping up with two shows in New Orleans (where he lives) in April.
The event – “An Evening with Greg Dulli” – will be an intimate, stripped-down affair showcasing songs from the rocker’s entire career, as well as debuting some brand new ones. Manuel Agnelli, lead singer of Italian rock band Afterhours, will open the European sets, while Austin, TX poet and storyteller Derrick Brown will open the North American shows.
For the past decade-and-a-half, Dulli has spent most of his time focusing on the Twilight Singers, a side project of the Afghan Whigs that he formed just a few years prior to the latter’s disbanding. After an 11-year hiatus, the Afghan Whigs reunited for a major worldwide tour in 2012 and released a new album, Do to the Beast, in 2014. They don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon, already hard at work on a follow-up record to be released next year via Sub Pop.
Dulli announced via Facebook that fans can access a special presale for his solo tour on his website on Wednesday, October 21st, using the password Dulli2016. Tickets officially go on sale Friday, October 23rd.
