To celebrate the publication of her memoir, Boys in the Trees, in paperback format, Carly Simon has embarked on a mini-book tour that began in New York this evening, November 2. The tour takes her to Washington, D.C. on November 3, Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday (11/5) and Madison, Conn., on the 13th. The book was first released in hardcover a year ago this month and enjoyed brisk sales and spectacular reviews: best-seller status in the New York Times and one of People magazine’s top 10 books of the year.
In Boys in the Trees, which was released in paperback on Nov. 1, by Flatiron Books with a list price of $16.99, “reveals the thoughts and experiences that made her a cultural icon,” according to a press release from the publisher. It further states of the book: “Intimate, candid, and told with a poet’s ear for language, Simon’s memoir explores the universal themes and currents running through her life—unrequited love, family strife, longing, joy, betrayal, heartache, resilience—that speak to us all. In this probing examination of the first three decades of her life, Simon wrestles with and captures the endless ambiguity of emotions and relationships, never sanding down the interesting edges.”

The memoir is accompanied by an audiobook that includes original music composed especially for the program by Simon and Teese Gohl and a previously released bonus song and music CD, titled Songs From The Trees. The 31-track album features two unreleased tracks, one titled “I Can’t Thank You Enough,” a duet co-written and performed by Carly and her son Ben Taylor, and “Showdown,” a song originally recorded during the sessions for her 1978 album, Boys In The Trees.
