Osbourne + Taylor

We’ve now received two emails from the big music PR firm Mitch Schneider Organization alerting Best Classic Bands to a “an invitation only event” (for which the invite is non-transferable) where solo/Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne and Slpiknot singer Corey Taylor will make “a special announcement.”

The first one (dated May 2nd) said in bold: **This information is not to be posted or shared…and the location must not be revealed in any form of media or social media** (No location was given.)

Okay….

The second one arrived yesterday and gave the location (Hollywood Palladium) and a schedule to what was still billed as “an invitation-only event:”

12 NOON: Exclusive Movie Screening

1:30 PM: Press conference

2:00 PM: Special live performance

2:00 PM: One-on-one interviews.

(The interviews listing also said: “Please note: Ozzy Osbourne will speak only about his tour plans.” We assume this means he won’t be talking about his reported split with wife Sharon.)

Then this showed up on Twitter:

Speculation is that Ozzy’s Ozzfest and Slipknot’s Knotfest will be joining forces later this year to stage an event. (Ozzchella? Knotchella? Notchella?) Ozzfest’s last tour in North America was in 2015. (The fest did happen in Japan in 2014 and 2015.) Knotfest, which was founded in 2012 and since expanded to Japan and Mexico has yet to announce its 2016 plans. A union between the two would certainly broaden the appeal of both.

We shall let you know on Thursday what we learn. Osbourne and Taylor are known to be mutual admirers. The latter says Ozzy once told him that he’d like to join Slipknot.

The next leg of the Osbourne/Black Sabbath reunion/final tour begins on June 1st in Budapest, Hungary and travels across Europe through July 13th. It returns to North America on August 17th and wraps up that leg on September 21st. Then Sab does a final leg in Latin and South America from November 16th to December 4th. So any festival or tour would likely happen in between those Osbourne commitments.
