A Rolling Stone gathers no moss and neither, apparently, does frontman Mick Jagger, who will become a father to his eighth child later this year. The soon-to-be 73-year-old rocker has announced he is expecting with his 29-year-old ballerina girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick.
The two started dating in 2014, shortly after the death of Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, L’Wren Scott. This will be Hamrick’s first child. The real kicker is that not only are four of Jagger’s children older than Hamrick, but a few of them have had children, and one of those children just recently gave birth, making him now a great-grandfather. His upcoming child with Hamrick will be a great aunt or uncle when they are born.
Good to see the legendary performer is making time for romance within the busy year the band has had. The Rolling Stones recently launched Exhibitionism, a career-spanning exhibit of the band, at London’s Saatchi Gallery. It has received great reviews and its first road stop will be in New York City in November.

Earlier this year the band also kicked off their América Latina Olé tour, which had them traveling seven weeks and playing 14 dates in eight countries including a historic performance in Havana, Cuba. Next on the agenda, besides the birth of baby Jagger, will be a performance at Desert Trip this fall, the upcoming classic rock music festival in California that will also feature The Who, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney, among others.

This news comes just a few months after the band’s guitarist, Ronnie Wood, became a father again, to twin girls, at the slightly younger age of 68, with his wife Sally. Wood revealed back in May that Jagger was among the first people to visit his newborns, stating: “Mick popped in on the third day. He couldn’t wait to see them.”
Maybe Ronnie and Mick can look into a hybrid stroller model that can double as a walker.
