When it comes to rock music, Dave Grohl wins the game of thrones, In order to, first, not cancel the big Foo Fighters 20th Anniversary bash on the Fourth of July at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC, and then second, carry on touring the U.S. through mid-October, all with a broken leg, he decided to sit down on the job. Atop a specially designed throne festooned with stage lights and equipped with a support that keeps his lower right leg encased in a cast level and healing.
The former Nirvana drummer broke his leg at a concert in Sweden nearly three weeks ago and then underwent surgery in London. Forced to cancel the band’s remaining European dates including a bill-topping appearance at the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival, Grohl says he came up with the throne idea while sedated on morphine is the hospital.
His devotion to his fans cannot be denied. But Grohl may not be able to keep his stature as the nicest guy in rock if he doesn’t reconsider his band’s onerous concert photography policy.
