Squeeze Sets 2021 Headlining Tour Among Support Dates With Hall & Oates
by Best Classic Bands StaffSqueeze have announced two dozen 2021 headlining concerts in North America that are interspersed with their supporting role for Hall & Oates. The 18 concerts with the popular duo begin August 5. The Hall and Oates concerts were originally scheduled to take place in 2020 but were postponed due to the pandemic.
[Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall was also scheduled to perform on the Hall & Oates tour. However, on July 27, she pulled out citing tinnitus. She permanently lost 100% of her hearing in her left ear in 2018.]
Squeeze, led as always by Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford, have dubbed their headlining run the “Nomadband” tour. “I’m so excited to be back on stage and in the thick of our wonderful set list of songs,” said Difford in the June 21 announcement. “Seeing an audience again will be inspiring and emotional, it’s been too long.”
Added Tilbrook: “I think this is my most anticipated U.S. tour since our first in 1978.”
Tickets to Squeeze’s headlining shows go on sale to the general public beginning June 18 at 10 a.m. local time here.
Squeeze also features keyboardist Stephen Lange and drummer Simon Hanson (since 2007,) percussionist/back-up singer Steve Smith (vocalist for house music group Dirty Vegas) along with pedal/lap steel guitarist Melvin Duffy (who joined them for the 2019 tour) and a new addition, Owen Biddle, former bassist for The Roots.
After selling out their Feb. 28, 2020, performance at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Daryl Hall and John Oates announced the North American summer tour. The tour was originally expected kick off on last year May 29 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles before wrapping Sept. 2.

Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook has been releasing new performances of classic covers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
