Days of Future Passed, the groundbreaking debut album by The Moody Blues, is being celebrated with an expanded 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition to be released Nov. 17 by UMe. The deluxe 2-CD/DVD and digital audio edition features the album’s newly restored original 1967 stereo mix, which makes its CD debut here.

To commemorate the release, Best Classic Bands is giving away a copy of the 2-CD/DVD deluxe edition.

From last month’s announcement: “Today’s technology has allowed for the original stereo master to be repaired, and the new 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition pairs that original album mix with the 1972 stereo mix. The commemorative set also features nine BBC Radio session performances, including a cover of ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’.”

The collection includes a DVD with a new 5.1 surround sound mix derived from the album’s original 1972 Quad mix, plus previously unreleased video footage of the band performing three key Days Of Future Passed tracks at MIDEM on January 24, 1968, eight weeks after the album’s release. (See complete track listing below.) The set also includes a poster designed by Ray Thomas.

Listen to their cover of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” which became a huge hit for the Animals in 1965

I would love to add this to my “Moody Collection”. I’ve seen the Moodies so many times in concert that I’ve lost count. They get better each and every time.

    Thanks!

Was able to spend an evening with Ray Thomas when they passed through Honolulu- asked him the secret to his endurance to which he steepled his fingers and looked to the sky, a reference to his song Peak Hour on Days of Future Passed! One hour a day, one hour a night!

I would really dig adding this record to my Moody collection. I have most of the band
& solo recordings. I got to see them twice in concert. Once right in my hometown in PA.They have inspired me to play music on my guitar as i play some of my favorites by them, mostly Nights. Thanks for the inspiration !
