Following the news that Joe Jackson – the father and original manager of the singing sensations the Jackson 5 and Janet Jackson – had died on Wednesday (June 27) at 89, reactions from the Jackson family and the music world seemingly took over the twitterverse. Jackson is said to have had stage four pancreatic cancer. The controversial patriarch died at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nev., where he lived.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, 20, wrote in part: “spending those last few moments with you were everything. being able to tell you everything i needed to tell you before saying goodbye was such a blessing. everyone that came to visit you, came with love, respect, and so much pride in their hearts for you. i promised you that we will keep telling your story, over and over. to never be forgotten. my great grandchildren will know who joseph jackson is. i love you grandpa.”

Another grandchild, Tito Jackson’s son, Taj, urged observers to “let us grieve without the nastiness”…
