Last week’s Emmy Award nominations announcement fared well for the legacy of the early 1990s grunge band that changed the direction of rock music – Nirvana. The HBO Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck was nominated for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special plus three other technical awards (see our review here). And the Dave Grohl-directed Foo Fighters HBO mini-series Sonic Highways is up for Outstanding Informational Series or Special and one other Emmy; the two go up against each other for the Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming award. Montage also got nominations for cinematography, editing and writing.
See who wins what (if anything) when the 67th Emmy Awards air on September 20 at 8 PM ET on Fox.
