British post-punk favorites the Psychedelic Furs have announced a string of new tour dates in North America and Europe, beginning in Barcelona on June 8. Several of the group’s American dates, all set for July, will find them paired with Los Angeles punk legends X. One date, set for July 19 in Costa Mesa, Calif., also features the Fixx.
The Furs are still led by vocalist Richard Butler. Since 1980, the Furs have released seven studio albums and a string of singles from the early days of “Sister Europe” and “We Love You” and continuing on through such iconic hit songs as “Love My Way,” “Heaven,” “The Ghost In You,” “Heartbreak Beat” and “Pretty In Pink.”

X—Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom, and DJ Bonebrake—celebrated their 40th anniversary last year with an exhibit at the Grammy Museum in L.A., the band’s birthplace. At the time they issued this statement: “An X exhibit in a museum? Unbelievable! We are honored, dumbstruck and so grateful that all four original members are here to celebrate and share our history and 40th anniversary. It’s a very long way from a basement on Hollywood Blvd (The Masque) to the Grammy Museum, but we feel that we bring with us all the punks from then and now. We are just the representatives for what has gone before and what is still to come in the City of Angels.”
