British singer Paul Rodgers opened his U.K. “Free Spirit” tour last night (May 5) in Scotland at Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium. The former lead vocalist of Free (as well as Bad Company, and now a solo artist) is performing songs strictly from the Free catalog. Friday night’s 18-song set featured such Free staples as “Mr. Big,” “All Right Now” (a Top 5 classic rock anthem from 1970), and “Fire and Water.”

The tour will culminate with a show at the famed Royal Albert Hall in London. Other than the U.K. tour (dates below), Rodgers’ only other concert dates are a single U.S. date at the new Bourbon & Beyond festival in Louisville, Kentucky in September and October’s Rock Getaway event in Mexico.

Rodgers also performed in the short-lived mid-’80s “supergroup” The Firm with, most notably, Jimmy Page; in the early ’90s with The Law with ex-Faces/Who drummer Kenny Jones; and from 2004-2009 with Queen + Paul Rodgers.
