Nancy Wilson and Ann Wilson of Heart preview their 2024 tour at their December 27, 2023 concert in Highland, Calif.

Heart has postponed their entire 2024 tour. The news, announced at around 2 p.m. ET today (July 2), comes with a report directly from Ann Wilson that she “recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous.” The announcement follows an earlier one, on May 29, that the band had canceled their summer dates in Europe and the U.K. At that time, it was noted that Wilson required a “time-sensitive but routine medical procedure for which the minimum recover time is six weeks.” Heart’s July 2 announcement emphasized that the upcoming North American dates, scheduled for this summer and fall, were “postponed, with more information to be announced in the coming weeks.” Wilson’s separate announcement indicated that “the operation was successful & I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy” which she’s decided to undertake. She noted that her doctors instructed her to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.

Heart, led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, completed the first leg of their U.S. tour on May 24. The reunion tour, dubbed the “Royal Flush” was scheduled to pick up again on June 20 with a festival performance in Belgium. Those 14 concerts were cancelled, based on the earlier May 29 announcement, including a half dozen U.K. shows with Squeeze. That announcement noted, “Heart deeply regrets this unfortunate circumstance and hopes to return to Europe soon.” Refunds for the affected shows are available at point of purchase.

Wilson followed up the earlier announcement by assuring her fans she was fine. “I’m okay,” she wrote. “Please don’t worry. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It’s certainly an inconvenience for me. Love & respect always.”

Heart’s tour was scheduled to re-start on July 30, continuing through mid-December, with support for various shows throughout the U.S. and Canada by special guests Cheap Trick, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening and BTO featuring Randy Bachman. Heart also had a handful of stadium shows where they were to open for Def Leppard and Journey. Tickets for those shows are available here.

Heart surprised their fans with three concerts in December 2023, paving the way for an on-stage reunion of the sisters. The current members of Heart feature Nancy Wilson (rhythm, lead and acoustic guitar, backing and lead vocals) who turned 70 on March 16, Ann Wilson (lead vocals and flute) who turns 74 on June 19, Ryan Wariner (lead and rhythm guitar), Ryan Waters (guitars), Paul Moak (guitars, keyboards and backing vocals), Tony Lucido (bass and backing vocals) and Sean Lane (drums and bike).

Watch them perform on Dec. 27

The sisters had shared the stage on Oct. 10, 2023, when Nancy Wilson was a surprise guest at Ann Wilson’s concert in Santa Rosa, Calif. As the stunned audience applauded, Nancy strode across the stage and planted a kiss on her sister’s cheek, as the crowd roared its approval. The pair performed Heart‘s classic rock favorite, “Barracuda,” marking the first time that the sisters had performed together on stage since 2019. In an extensive 2021 interview with Best Classic Bands, Nancy Wilson said, “Live Nation has put a big offer on the table for Heart for 2022. That will be a really fun thing to look forward to! Ann and I are both up for it.” Regrettably, things changed, and it never took place as the sisters again toured separately in 2022.
