Eric Clapton announced on March 9 two North American concerts at Oct. 6-7 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. On March 28, his Facebook page announced the release of additional seats.
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster and here.
Clapton‘s band for these concerts: Nathan East (bass), Sonny Emory (drums), Doyle Bramhall (guitar), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Paul Carrack (organ/keyboards), Sharon White (vocals), Sharlotte Gibson (vocals). As with his four MSG shows in 2017, the concerts will also feature special guests Gary Clark Jr. and Jimmie Vaughan.
Clapton has previously announced that he’s done with extensive touring, preferring to do occasional performances without the rigors of full-length tours. Though Clapton hasn’t himself announced it, last Dec. 18, the organizers of the Greenwich (CT) Town Party revealed surprising news that they had booked Clapton for their annual Memorial Day weekend concert. (They’ve since added the Tedeschi Trucks Band and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, among others to the bill.) More details here.

Last Dec. 16, the classic rock legend revealed two dates in Germany–July 2 in Cologne and July 3 in Hamburg, his first concerts in the country in four years.
Slowhand played a private concert in Paris, France, on Jan. 23. The biggest news of the Paris set was the inclusion of “The Core,” the exceptional song with two extended instrumental sections of Clapton’s guitar with saxophonist Mel Collins, that is a highlight of his 1977 Slowhand album. According to the ever-reliable fan site, Where’s Eric, Clapton hadn’t performed “The Core” onstage since 1978.
