Three classic rock legends, Deep Purple and Alice Cooper, with special guest, the Edgar Winter Band, announced a 19-city North America summer tour today (Jan. 30). Produced by Live Nation, the tour will also serve as the “Long Goodbye Tour” for Deep Purple. Additional dates will be announced.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, February 3 here and on the Live Nation app. Citi card members can take advantage of a special pre-sale opportunity beginning tomorrow (January 31) at 10 a.m. local time. On Thursday, February 2 at 10 a.m. there will also be pre-sales via LiveNation.com, the Live Nation app and on Facebook.
Deep Purple’s new studio album, Infinite, will be released on April 7, via earMUSIC. Produced by Bob Ezrin, (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Kiss), the album features 10 new tracks recorded, as the announcement states, “in the spirit of the ’70s.” Pre-order is available here.
Here’s “Time for Bedlam” from the new album…
The metal pioneers have released five studio albums since 1996 and special projects from members Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey. Deep Purple was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper’s catalog of hits and anthems, including “I’m Eighteen,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” School’s Out,” “Elected,” “Poison,” and others, are featured in his live show, along with a mix of newer songs and fan-favorite album cuts. His touring band features guitarists Nita Strauss, Tommy Henriksen and Ryan Roxie, backed by longtime bassist Chuck Garric and drummer Glen Sobel. Cooper was inducted into the Rock Hall in 2011.
