Toots and the Maytals FBJamaican Reggae and Ska legend Toots and the Maytals, will return to the stage for a significant tour that begins June 15 in San Diego. The run will celebrate the culmination of three years of extensive physical rehabilitation for Frederick “Toots” Hibbert, after an incident in May 2013 in Richmond, VA, when a glass liquor bottle was thrown from the audience and struck him in the forehead during a performance, severely injuring the singer.

“It has been a difficult three years,” says Hibbert, now 73. “But I am very happy to be able to now get back together with my musical family and prepare to share my music once again with my incredible fans.”

The group was featured on the soundtrack to the 1972 Jimmy Cliff film The Harder They Come. Their breakthrough international hit was 1970’s “Monkey Man.”
