A new album by Santana, titled Africa Speaks, will be released on June 7 via Concord Records. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album, according to the announcement, “goes deeper and further than ever before to create one of the most groundbreaking albums yet.”

Listen to several tracks below.

Santana and his band convened at Rubin’s Shangri La Studios in Malibu, Calif., and recorded “an astonishing number of tracks, many of them in one take,” says the pre-release info. Another dramatic element in the creation of Africa Speaks came in the form of Spanish singer Buika, “whose heavenly lead vocals cast a magical spell throughout the album.”

Jeff Beck once said that Carlos Santana is “like an oak tree, always there”. I tend to agree. This is an artist always reaching for more. I have been a fan for many years and as long as he and the band continue to release great material I will remain a fan. I look forward to this new batch of songs. From what I’ve heard so far, it’s another winner. Long live Santana!!
