The 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ Abbey Road album will be celebrated this fall in more ways than one. Besides the deluxe edition of the iconic album, an all-female Beatles tribute band, Magical Mystery Girls, will perform the 1969 album in its entirety at a October 27 performance. They’ll be joined at “One Sweet Dream: An Evening of Abbey Road,” by Dr. Kenneth Womack, a world-renowned Beatles authority and author, who’ll talk about their enduring cultural influence.

This special event, produced by Wonderwall Communications, will take place Sunday, October 27 at 5 p.m. at Outta the Rabbit Hole in Derwood, MD. Tickets and packages (including a VIP experience) for “One Sweet Dream” are on sale now through Eventbrite here.

The Magical Mystery Girls originally formed in 2017 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ landmark Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album, and the response was so overwhelming that they kept the band together, going on to play to sell-out crowds at festivals, concert venues and clubs. They’re known for their attention to detail in recreating the Beatles’ songs.

“Playing the entire Abbey Road album live is a daunting task,” says Linda Cote, a founding member of the tribute band. “There are so many intricate details layered into each song, and all of that is difficult to reproduce in real time without relying on samples or pre-recorded tracks. We set out to actually play everything, and we’ve achieved that, sometimes in surprising ways.”

Womack is the author of a two-volume biography on Beatles producer George Martin. His latest book, Solid State: The Story of Abbey Road and the End of the Beatles, arrived on October 15. Womack will trace the story of Martin’s production of the medley on Side Two of Abbey Road in a multimedia, interactive presentation, including rare clips and videos prior to the Magical Mystery Girls’ performance,

In the book’s foreword, legendary engineer, producer and musician, Alan Parsons, writes: “You will become aware of many hitherto unknown facts about the making of Abbey Road.”
