the-who-hyde-park-2015-posterAlthough The Who were forced to postpone the second U.S. leg of their Hits 50! tour due to Roger Daltrey’s illness, fans worldwide will have the opportunity to see the band perform this fall after all. The Who Live In Hyde Park, filmed in London over the summer before a crowd of 65,000, will debut worldwide in theaters – many in Imax –  on October 7th.

The concert was held on June 26 of this year in London’s famed park, which has a decades-long history of classic rock performances including the debut Rolling Stones appearance with Mick Taylor and the first-ever Blind Faith live performance, both in 1969, as well as Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and others. The Who’s set list spanned their full career including such favorites as “I Can’t Explain,” “Behind Blue Eyes,” “My Generation,” “You Better You Bet” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” The film also includes interviews with Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, Robert Plant, Iggy Pop and more.

Here’s the full performance of “Baba O’Riley” from the concert:

As previously noted, the U.S. dates will be re-scheduled for 2016 (The Who Hits 51!?!) It’s also a fairly safe bet that the film will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray via Eagle Rock Entertainment before too long.
