Eric Clapton and Dhani Harrison perform “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) at London’s Royal Albert Hall, May 23, 2024

Eric Clapton was joined on London’s Royal Albert Hall stage by George Harrison’s son, Dhani Harrison on Thursday (May 23, 2024). The concert was Slowhand’s third of four shows at the legendary venue. Following a 16-song set that included such perennials as “Badge,” “Tears in Heaven,” “Key To the Highway,” and “Cocaine,” the 79 year-old Clapton was ready for an encore. On the mini-residency’s opening night on Monday, that meant a cover of Bo Diddley’s “Before You Accuse Me.” The same song was performed on Tuesday, with special guest Andy Fairweather-Low. However, on this night, Dhani Harrison, now 45, joined Clapton as they performed George Harrison’s 1973 smash, “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth).” Clapton handled the lead vocals.

The pair then performed “Before You Accuse Me.”

Clapton’s tour, which began on May 9, has so far taken him to Ireland and the U.K. He’ll then travel to France and Italy before resuming in South America and September. He has only three dates scheduled so far in the U.S. Tickets are available here, here and here.

Who are the other players featured? That left-handed guitarist doing GH’s slide licks was especially impressive.

I empathize with the keyboard player who can’t be heard at all in the mix – been there many times.
