Eagles have announced more than a dozen more U.S. dates of their “Hotel California” 2022 tour, with a series of shows in March, April and May. The announcement follows the Nov. 24 news of many other concerts, as well as their outdoor concert at London’s Hyde Park later in the year. Since 2017, the band has been performing with a revised lineup on stage with Glenn Frey’s son, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill, joining Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit.

Each show will feature Hotel California, played from beginning to end, accompanied by an orchestra and choir, along with an additional set of the band’s greatest hits.

On Feb. 17, the band announced that Deacon Frey would not be performing on the tour due to an unspecified illness. The 28-year-old’s return will be based on “his recovery and doctor’s recommendations.” No other details were provided.

The tour began Feb. 19.

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.

Somehow he fell out of favor with the leaders of the band. I think that there was a movement by Henley and Frey do set up a $$$$ sharing schedule where not everyone got an equal share. Kind of a low point in the bands life in my opinion. But big business and the Eagles were big business in the industry did what people do all the time and that is “F” other people. It is a black mark on the band. Joe Walsh has commented that he doesn’t want to talk about it. Thats all I know.

Actually he only came up with a chord progression which is almost impossible to defend in court. That’s why most copyrighted material is lyric-based. If you could successfully defend the copyright of a chord progression, Jethro Tull would have been collecting mechanicals on Hotel California all these years.

He also came up with the beginning melody and he and Walsh also came up with the leads.

Absolutely! You would think that since Glenn is no longer with the band they would ask Felder back. I didn’t think that Henley would hold a grudge that long.

Not true. Randy Meisner left the group because he had a young family and the group’s lifestyle in the 70s was pretty wild. In more recent years he has been on stage with the group occasionally. Several yrs ago, Randy’s wife accidentally shot herself cleaning a gun I think. Randy became very depressed. The group supported him through that.

Randy did guest at the RRHOF induction and he was invited to participate in the HOTE tour, but he was unable to partake in the latter endeavour, because of health issues.

Henley can hold a grudge with the best of them. He will never agree to Felder’s return.

I don’t see Henley asking Don Felder. From what has been reported numerous times over the years, both Henley and Frey disliked Felder with a passion. Hated I believe is a more apt description. Don Henley has been called obnoxious, and spiteful by many musicians.

Growing up in a family band, I saw many changes in the jam sessions. The best bet is to have a good time, enjoy the music. It’s worth the ticket.

JC and Anthony, Settle down! Get a ticket for Don Felder if you can find one. I seen him at a fair 5yrs ago. He was awesome for sure. Seen the Eagles twice in the last 2 yrs years, and 25 yrs ago. Still as good now! Deacon is VERY good. The Ueros will appreciate every minute. I disagree with The Eagles playing Hotel California 1st.

While thoroughly enjoyed the SoCal sound of the early Eagles albums, it was Don Felder (along with producer Bill Szymczyk) that provided the harder-edged rock and bite into the Eagles albums, staritng with “On the Border”, particularly on the songs “”Already Gone” and “Good Day In Hell”.

Although Vince Gill has a great tonal quality (Loved his work during his stint in Pure Prairie League) and is an accomplished guitarist, Don Felder was core to the Eagles’ collective success, and should still be an Eagle (if he would choose to be).

Heck, Don Felder taught a young Tom Petty guitar lessons, in their hometown of Gainesville, FL – ’nuff said.

I hope that Deacon will be okay and gets better.

I can’t understand why people are saying that Don Felder should be brought back into The Eagles. Yes, he is a good guitarist, but he’s not a good singer, let alone prolific songwriter; besides, Deacon wouldn’t feel at ease with having to share the stage with somebody who had unfairly maligned and trashed his late father, never acknowledged his singing or guitar abilities, mocked his illnesses on Twitter and wrote a mudslinging tell-all book, none of which matches the description of a ‘class act’.

Don Henley and Glenn Frey were able to collaborate with other musicians, so they obviously not a difficult man to work with, but I can’t ever see Henley inviting Felder back into the group after all the drama he’d caused not to mention the unwarranted lawsuits that he filed as well as that low cheap shot of a book and unfairly badmouthing Glenn.

    With regards to defending Don Felder;
What have the Eagles really done (as a band or solo artists) since “Hell Freezes Over” (last Felder contribution), except perhaps, being a tribute band of themselves, and raking in the concert shares?

I don’t think we’re gonna see Deacon come back, and his absence has nothing to do with a temporary illness. This is his permanent OUT of the group. I think he wants to move on.

It is funny that Don Henly asked Don Felder to do a solo tour with him. She them together in South Florida and did not sense any tension with them. Even got to talk to Henley.
