Duran Duran have announced two additional shows on their North American 2023 “Future Past” tour. Produced by Live Nation, one of the new dates includes a show at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium on Sept. 22, where they’ll be joined by Grace Jones, as well as Nile Rodgers & CHIC and Bastille who are joining them for the full North American tour. Tickets for the new shows in New York and Los Angeles go on sale to the general public on April 14 at 10 a.m. local time here. A Los Angeles date will also be announced soon. They finish their current tour of the U.K. and Ireland on May 9.
In the April 7 announcement, Simon Le Bon said, “It’s remarkable to me that as a band, we are still hitting new milestones, and introducing the sound of DD to new generations of music lovers. We are truly grateful that we get to do what we do on a daily basis, and that we still love our job as much as we did when we started out some four decades ago.”
Of Jones’ participation for the New York date, John Taylor said, “Grace has been a profound influence on Duran Duran from the beginning, both musically and stylistically. We have had a lot of fun with her over the years—now it’s fantastic to finally share a stage with her.”
2022 was another landmark year for Duran Duran, having just been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, a career peak that followed a summer live season that included headlining London’s Hyde Park in front of 60,000 people, performing at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace and closing the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in their home town of Birmingham, as well as a headline tour across North America. The band capped off the year with a performance in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, counting fans down into 2023 in front of a live audience of over one million people on the streets of Manhattan.
The deluxe edition of Future Past (Complete Edition) is out now via BMG. The 2-LP set includes all 15 tracks from Future Past plus Duran Duran’s cover of David Bowie’s “Five Years.” The first LP is red, the second is green.
