The artist again known as Prince continues to go his own way by asking most streaming services to remove his music. Only Tidal and Google Play continue to offer the Purple One’s catalog. When Apple Music debuted last Tuesday (6/30) it soon after had to pull his songs.
Soundcloud previously had four Prince selections up but they’ve since been removed. (His tune “HARDROCKLOVER” had debuted there in July 2015 simultaneous to his music being removed elsewhere.) Tidal was the one service that streamed his May 10 Rally4Peace from Baltimore. Last year he also had some of his videos removed from YouTube.
Prince has been vocal regarding his negative feelings about Internet streaming and sharing, He’s able to exercise tight control of his recordings and song copyrights after gaining ownership of his works last year.
