Looks like Howard Stern is here to stay – well, for five more years at least. After weeks of hemming and hawing about renewing his contract, the popular shock jock (or the King of All Media, if you prefer) did indeed ink a deal with satellite radio company SiriusXM to continue to produce and host The Howard Stern Show in its current four-hour daily format.
Not only will he be extending his radio stay, but he’ll be heading up the network’s first video-streaming venture as part of a larger 12-year licensing deal. This new agreement will allow SiriusXM access to Stern’s massive career archives, including more than 30 years of audio and video material. The specific details of the video plans are still to come.
Stern’s take on the deal is about as eloquent as you’d expect. “I happen to think that [satellite radio’s] best days are ahead,” he said. “So, if you are not listening to SiriusXM and The Howard Stern Show, then you are really more like a zombie, a rotting corpse monster, living half a life, deadened and blackened inside. It’s as if you were still watching black and white television while shopping in actual stores on your way to the post office to fax a memo.”
Listen to The Howard Stern Show live exclusively on SiriusXM’s Howard 100 channel, from 7-11 a.m. ET, with replays throughout the day and online. And if that’s not enough to satisfy your daily fix, the Howard 101 channel includes current and classic episodes of the show as well.
