Alan Parsons Project’s ‘I Robot’ Gets Super Deluxe Edition

From the August announcement: I Robot was a worldwide hit selling a reported two+ million copies, while achieving Platinum and Gold status in numerous countries. Like other Alan Parsons Project albums, there were a variety of different lead vocalists employed including Steve Harley, Allan Clarke, Lenny Zakatek, Peter Straker, Jack Harris and Jaki Whitren, plus a selection of session musicians such as guitarist Ian Bairnson and drummer Stuart Tosh with arrangements by Andrew Powell.
The Super Deluxe Edition’s 4-CDs contain a stereo remaster of the original album by Miles Showell plus 70 bonus tracks (47 previously unreleased) from studio out-takes. The new mixes are from the original multi-track master tapes along with a new stereo HD remaster of the original album. The Blu-ray also contains the restored “I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You” promotional video and interview footage of Eric Woolfson discussing the album. The 45rpm 180g heavyweight vinyl 2-LP, in a gatefold sleeve, contains a half speed remaster by Showell at Abbey Road Studios. A fully illustrated 12” x 12” hardback casebound book featuring interviews with Parsons, the Woolfson family and many of the personnel as well as full lyrics and commentary on the bonus tracks. The box set also includes a replica original press folder containing a giant A1 sized poster, reproduction of original biographies, press photo, press letter and promotional postcard.
Parsons, born December 20, 1948, was on the Queen’s 2021 Birthday Honours List.
