Fresh off his 2016 Kennedy Center Honors, Timothy B. Schmit, vocalist, songwriter and bassist of two legendary classic rock bands, the Eagles and Poco, began a brief tour on January 7 to support his recent Leap of Faith album, out now on Benowen Records.

In the months after the death of Glenn Frey, both Don Henley and Joe Walsh had the opportunity to dedicate songs to their longtime Eagles bandmate.

On the tour’s second date at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA, on January 8, Schmit finally had his own concert opportunity and talked a bit about him. “He is missed still. Everybody is still processing it. And I want to sing a song for Glenn.” He then played the Eagles’ “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” which was written by Jack Tempchin, and included on the band’s 1972 self-titled debut. (Frey sang lead on the studio version with additional vocals by Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner.)

Recorded at his Los Angeles studio and co-produced with engineer Hank Linderman, Leap of Faith, according to a press release, “marks the culmination of Schmit’s unhurried, yet inspired reflections of life.” The album’s first single was “Red Dirt Road,” which features Van Dyke Parks on accordion, John McFee (from the Doobie Brothers) on fiddle and harmonies by Herb Pedersen.
