Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band and concluded their 2019 tour on Sunday night (September 1) at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, nearly 30 years to the day when the inaugural All Starrs completed their first tour on September 3, 1989. For the final number, “With a Little Help From My Friends,” Starr was joined onstage by many fellow classic rock stars.
The 2019 edition of the band featured Toto’s Steve Lukather, Men at Work’s Colin Hay, Santana and Journey’s Gregg Rolie, Warren Ham, Gregg Bissonette and Hamish Stuart. They were joined for the finale by such friends as Joe Walsh and Nils Lofgren (who were part of the original All Starr Band), plus Jim Keltner, Edgar Winter, Richard Page and Eric Carmen.

Starr celebrated his 79th birthday on July 7, 2019. The beloved Beatle returned to the Capitol Records Tower in Los Angeles for his annual Peace & Love celebration, where he and a starr-studded group of classic rock stars and other celebrities joined gathered fans.

In 2018, the event was held in Nice, France, since the legend was on tour with the All-Starr Band. “That was cool,” Starr remarked at the 2019 event. “I’ve done it in Germany, Nashville, New York. Every year we do this somewhere.”
Accompanying Starr for the 2019 birthday celebration was his wife, Barbara Starkey, musicians Don Was, Edgar Winter, Benmont Tench, Nils Lofgren, T-Bone Burnett, Jim Keltner, Sheila E, and Gregg Bissonette, plus David Lynch, Ed Begley Jr and Richard Lewis, and others.
Ringo began these birthday celebrations in 2008 at the Hard Rock Café Chicago and last year he celebrated the 10th Anniversary at the Hard Rock Café Nice. In the ensuing years it has grown enormously and in 2018 there were Peace & Love events in over 60 countries.
A first leg began on March 21 with one U.S. show in Southern California before the band headed to Japan for a number of shows. The summer tour ran through August, concluding with the Greek Theatre performance.

Starr has been spending time in the recording studio this year. Details about Ringo’s new album are emerging.
November will also see Ringo honored when he receives the Humanitarian Award from the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF on “Giving Tuesday,” Nov. 27, 2019, at their annual Snowflake Ball in New York City.
