Fresh off his five-date mini-tour with Crazy Horse earlier this month, Neil Young announced on May 9 six solo concerts in “four of my favorite cities”: Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis and Boston. Tickets are available to members of his Archives site. It’s a free site but you must sign-up. Prices for the Boston shows, for instance, range from $55 to $250.
As he wrote, in part, about each of the cities when he revealed the news of the upcoming concerts:
Chicago (2 shows): At the Chicago Auditorium Theater, the same theater where we played one of our first CSNY gigs, just before Woodstock; where I played Tonight’s the Night in 1973.
Detroit: At the beautiful FOX Theater, lovingly restored by my friend, Dick Kughn and his friends who love Detroit so much. The Motor City, where i (sic) first recorded with the Mynah Birds on Motown in 1965.
St. Louis: Appearing at the incredible Fox Theater again! I can’t believe my luck, that I am going back into that dresing room with al the signatures on the walls and onto that beautiful stage with all the great folks from St. Louis in the audience.
Boston (2 shows): One of my first solo shows was in the Wang Theater, then called the Music Hall. It’s a real beauty folks – a chapel of soul and music. Memories are everywhere in Boston. That town has been good to me.
